Dayo Akinyemi | Fiction Editor

Dayo Akinyemi (she/her) is a listener and health communicator whose main goal is to make health information accessible and relevant to different audiences, particularly communities of color. Her work has included leading the communications department of a national, mental health non-profit, and garnering media interest for health and science research at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dayo is an avid reader, and primarily reads books authored by women of color. dayo@midnightandindigo.com

What She’s Looking for in a midnight & indigo short story

As an editor, her intention is to help folks understand that storytelling and books can be powerful tools that facilitate our collective healing. Dayo hopes to amplify stories that expand the reader’s imagination through fantasy, and storytelling that provokes a journey of self-discovery using themes surrounding love, aging, and culture

midnight & indigo is a literary magazine and publisher featuring short stories and essays by Black women writers. In addition to our tri-annual print publication, we publish works online and facilitate writing classes. To date, we have published 375+ Black storytellers across the U.S., Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, Canada, Asia, and Australia. Our Writing program has served 500+ Black women writers since 2022. We are 100% Black woman-owned.
